GenoID launched its novel real-time PCR HPV assay for ABI StepOnePlus
The assay is able to differentiate the most oncogenic HPV 16, 18 in one channel and detect the other known high-risk HPV types in a separate channel.

The detected high-risk HPV types are:
Channel 1 : 16, 18
Channel 2: 31,33,35,39,45,51,52,56,58,59,66,68

The assay is a choice for middle size and high-throughput laboratories as it is able to run 93 samples at one time.
The applied real-time PCR technology allows fast results in 3 hours without the risk of contamination.

Demo version of the assay is available. (Training on request).

The results indicate high concordance between CLDN1 and CDKN2A immunostaining. CLDN1 might have a similar potential, than CDKN2A, to be used as histological/cytological biomarker to improve the clinical performance of cervical cytology/histology.
The claudin1 (CLDN1) is major component of the tight junction structure and plays an important role in cell-cell adhesion. The role of CLDN1 in
cervical cancer pathology was revealed by our previous work (2). In this study 360 cervical cytological, histological samples were collected
from a colposcopic referral population. The histological and cytological samples were immunostained using CLDN1, and as reference, p16
INK4a /CDK2A antibodies and were evaluated by experienced pathologist.
The results indicate high concordance between CLDN1 and CDKN2A immunostaining, which were in agreement with histology immune status,
as well. CLDN1 might have a similar potential, than CDKN2A, to be used as histological/cytological biomarker to improve the clinical
performance of cervical cytology/histology.

Visit GenoID at EUROGIN 2010, the leading European meeting for Cervical Cancer Prevention.
The meeting aims at developing a full review of current scientific developments in the field of cervical cancer control, highlighting recent medical advances made and exchanging information on early detection, new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and prevention strategies including screening and HPV vaccination.

The conference takes place at a crucial time where clinicians are called upon to integrate HPV screening and prophylactic vaccines into clinical practice.

The purpose of the conference is not only to highlight new developments, but also to widen the discussion beyond the purely medical aspects and to address public education issues.

“Evaluation of a new cervical screening biomarker panel” poster have been selected and published at the conference of The International Papillomavirus Society in Malmö.
The poster was published at The International Papillomavirus Conference 2009 in Malmö (8-14 May) that is a leading conference in the field, encompassing all areas of Papillomavirus research, from clinical vaccinology to molecular biology. The poster was published in the AUTOCAST FP7 Framework Programme.

Primary HPV screening is an emerging concept, which may fundamentally influence cervical cancer screening, making impossible to establish new high throughput automated screening methods in primary screening. Following this path, the combination of HPV testing with screening biomarkers could be the next major milestone. With the advent of a fully automated, low cost, biochemical screening method both the overall quality of the cervical screening programs could be improved and also the programs could be more accessible for women, especially in low resource countries.
We have developed a new gene expression, HPV combination panel for cervical screening.

Please, visit the official website of the AUTOCAST - “Automatic Cancer Screening Based on Real-time PCR” consortium where you can find more information about the poster and the FP7 study.

GenoID took part at WHO HPV LabNet Study

      <dc:subject>News</dc:subject>

The study found the GenoID Full Spectrum genotyping assay proficient for detection of HPV 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59 and 66. The aim was to find manufacturers of HPV typing reagents worldwide who meet the requirements of producing assays with optimal sensitivity and specificity for WHO to apply in developing countries.
The WHO HPV LabNet was created to “contribute to improving quality of laboratory services for effective surveillance and monitoring of HPV vaccination impact, through enhanced, state-of-the-art laboratory support.” WHO has the process of developing and validating international biologic standards for HPV DNA and serology testing well underway. The LabNet identified assays with optimal sensitivity and specificity that will be most amenable to inter-laboratory standardization in the variety of conditions encountered internationally.

Expert consultants to WHO recommended that WHO should pursue and negotiate access to reliable and affordable HPV kits for long term use in the global HPV LabNet to sustain HPV surveillance in developing countries.

As a result, WHO was seeking partnerships with manufacturers of HPV typing reagents and assays to assure a supply of standardized affordable reagents and assays for implementation world-wide.

WHO initiated these activities as part of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded project, contributed by a group of collaborating institutions working in partnership, which includes PATH in Seattle, Harvard University in Boston, IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) in Lyon, ICO (Institut Català d’Oncologia) in Barcelona and WHO in Geneva.
